The one about the Football match!

If I don't record this for prosperity my Mum will never, ever believe that I went to a Football match yesterday! My Mum's a sports fanatic and enjoys all sports and has been to plenty of football matches in her time....supporting Bristol City I think?!

Anyway, I digress....there is a lad that works at the Jova Sports Gym in the Parque Commercial, Mojacar that we were talking to at their recent open day..Lee Spires.

It transpires that he is a semi-professional footballer and was telling us he plays for Huercal-Overa FC. He invited us to attend one of the matches, so this Sunday we took him up on the offer! So off we trotted with two neighbour friends (for moral support!) to the match. It's just over 40 kms up the motorway and only took us just over 35 minutes to get there.

So the Spanish guy at the door gesticulates to go around the corner to get our tickets, so after walking half way around the stadium and then back round again we come across two weeny windows where you get the tickets!....Taquilla = Box Office!

We were also persuaded by another guy at the gate to purchase some raffle tickets ( 1 euro a strip) for a Jamon (ham) which we did not win! So after finding a suitable seat we settled in for the game to start at 5pm. The sun was still shining at this point so still quite warm. The pitch is AstroTurf so it was watered before the game began..

Onto the pitch came the teams..Huercal-Overa are in the red strip ( easy for me to remember as Bristol City play in red!)

So the game started and by half time the score was 2-0 to Huercal-Overa...great!

After a 15 min break they came back on to complete the 2nd half and lo and behold they scored a further 3 goals!!!

By the end of the game which resulted in a 5-0 win over La Union C.F. The sun had set and the flood lights had been switched on.

Hubby insisted he have his photo taken as living proof also that he had attended his 1st ever Football Match in Spain...and very good it was too!

Sue and Steve, our neighbours commented that they thoroughly enjoyed the game and was well worth the 10 euro entry (seƱoras 5 euro!)

We certainly picked the right match to attend, but I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon!!!!

Until next time...adios x
